Mujeres Rock Pictures

This I believe Project Pictures

Give it a Chance
I believe in second chances. I can relate to this because I've had to give second chances, hoping people will change. Last year there was so much going on with my dad. He cheated, and was never there for my brothers, me, or my mom. My mom forgave him and took him back. Not only did she take him back for her or just because she forgave him but because she thought of us, and us needing a father in our life's. To me I really didn't care if I would have to live my life without a father.
Before all that happened my dad was physically there but not emotionally. He would get home from work, watch t.v, and not say one word to us. He thought if he payed the bills and kept a roof over our head, him job as a father was done. I don't think that's all a dad is supposed to do. A real father would take time out of his day to be with or communicate with his child if it's at least asking how your day went.
You know the saying daddy's girl? Yeah, that wasn't me. It would get to me, seeing all my elementary friends getting dropped off and picked up at school by their dad's. Having to go to school meetings and seeing everyone there with both their mom and dad and I would just be there with my mom, because my dad was to busy to know what was going on with me in school.
As I got older it hit me the most. I decided to talk to my dad and let him know how I felt. While talking to him, it seemed like he didn't care what I thought or had to say. I told him I didn't really see him as a father because he would never try to talk or be with us and every time he would talk to us it was to scream at us, and to get us in trouble, there was never a day when he would talk to us in a good way. "I don't care if you see me as a father or not" is what he replied.
It took me a really long time to forget what he had told me. We didn't speak to each other for a really long time. We started talking a little more. I decided to give him a second chance in taking the roll of a father. Things got a little better but not to long after the same thing happened. He wasn't there for us again, and didn't care about anything. I was tired of him not caring and decided to keep him out of my life even if he lived with us.
I would always talk to my mom about the situation. She always knew what to say. "He's your father, you cant just stay mad at him forever, I know what he does isn't right but just give it one more chance". I really put in thought to what she said. She was right if you love someone your willing to give them how many chances it takes in order for them to see you really want to see change in them. I guess the third chance was it. We didn't talk for two, almost three months but now I see him actually trying to talk to me, even if its about the smallest thing. I really appreciate him trying to talk to me now. Things are getting better. Slowly, but better.
In the end I realized even if someone does something that seems like you will never forgive them about, give it a chance, maybe even three but it will get better. Before all of this I personally thought people never change, But giving this third chance changed my whole perspective on it. People do change, just with time. Don't think things will chance by the blink of an eye, it takes time and if you really want a difference you would give a million chances if you have to.

Evelyn Glennie: Shows How to Listen

What struck you?
-What struck me the most was how into it she was. I could tell she really loves music and is into it. And how she still plays the drums even if she lost her hearing.

What did you notice
-I noticed she had different ways of showing sounds on the drums.

What did you enjoy about her performance?
-What I enjoyed about her performance was how she kept on showing what she was talking about on the drums and she showed different sounds on the drums.

What do you remember about her performance?
-What I remember about her performance was when she was explaining that she lost her hearing at age 12, and now when she plays the drums she can tell a high and low note apart from the vibration the goes through her hands.

What did she mean by, "Each person experiences music in their own way"? Think about how you experience music and why everyone doesn't enjoy listening to the same music.
-I think she was kinda of meaning to say that because of here being death, so she experiences music a different way than a non death person would.

Sustainability Visit Blog Post

Adriana, Bianca, and I all went to the same Farmers market in Chula Vista, I interviewed a seller there named Ester, and these were her answers to my questions.

  • What is your name and your role here at the Farmers market?

My name is Ester, and I sell fresh produce that come from R&L farms that I work for.

  • Why do you choose to sell your produce here/support the CSA?

I choose to sell here because it is a well known farmers market, and fresh produce is always better, has no chemicals and it tastes much better.

  • When did you first start growing and working for a fresh produce company?

I started growing fresh produce when I started working for R&L Farms which was 21 years ago.

  • Do you garden at home? Why or why not?

Yes, I garden at my home, and in a ranch in Fresno.

  • What would be your advice to get others to do what you do?

I say everyone to start growing their own fruits and vegetables because for one the fruits and vegetables will taste much better without all the chemicals they put in them, and if you grow your own, you wont have to waste your money buying non fresh fruits and vegetables in your local grocery stores.

School Garden Blog Post

Questions

  • Why is this garden here?

The garden is here to offer it to people.

  • What is your role here?

My role here is to make sure everything is weeded and to take out all the bad plants.

  • Whats going to happen to it in the summer when no one is here taking care of it?

I really don't know, hopefully someone will be here to maintain it.

  • Why did they come up with this garden

Well, my teacher is really into agriculture, he thought it would be a good idea.

Reflection

  • Would you make any changes to the garden?

Yeah, I would add more plants to it because it seems kind of empty right now.

  • What did you like most about the garden?

I liked the fact that they had different things in the garden, now just flowers but fruits, veggies and stuff like that.

  • Was the garden what you expected?

No, I imagined it bigger and filled with much more things.

Talking it Over :)

What has struck you??
-What struck me was about how the little kid died off of the hamburgers, and what his mom is trying to do. I have kind of stopped eating hamburgers :D

Do you agree or disagree with the concepts? Why?
-I agree because everything they said in the movie actually makes sence.

How can you apply them to the real world?
-I can tell my mom to start buying stuff from organic places like Trader Joe's & Henry's and buy locally.

What do your parents or family members think?
-What my family thought about that was that it was very harsh how they killed and treated the animals. They also thought that if their feeding the animals, and want to get them big for us, to feed them what their actually supposed to eat so that way we wont die of E coli, and they don't have to be torchered, there is other ways to kill them like put them to sleep then start chopping them into pieces.

School Daze Dialectic Journals

Quote:Like most five-year-olds, she was thrilled to be going off to school at last, and I was thrilled for her, imagining (as she did) that some truly wonderful experience must be awaiting her. It was only after several months that I began to notice that her excitement was fading — and continued to fade month after month and year after year, until, by the time she was in the third grade she was thoroughly bored and glad for any opportunity to miss a day of school. Does this all come as strange news to you?" "Yeah," I said with a bitter laugh. "Only about eighty million kids went to bed last night praying for six feet of snow to fall so the schools would have to close."

Response:Like we talked about it in class we were saying when we're little we're actually excited for our first day of school, but once we actually spend time there and do the same thing every morning we get tired of it. I can relate to that because I know when it was my first day of school I was so ready for school but after a couple of months I wanted to shoot my self in the head! Being in high school now I hate it, but at the same time you think about it, and you kind of have to, to get a good job and have a good future.

For the Love of Michelle

For the Love of Michelle

Bobby was 62 years old and was a retired man and lived in a trailer park in Ford, Illinois. He had a daughter that lived in Shelby, Illinois named Angela. Life before was filled with joy and happiness, even though he wasn’t the wealthiest man around. The only thing that mattered to him was having that special person around, which was, Michelle, his wife. They were high school sweethearts, after high school they continued to be together, and after that they got married. They were married for 31 years. That showed how much he loved her. His wife had heart disease and needed surgery in order to survive longer. Bobby and his wife really wanted the surgery to be performed but didn’t have the money to make it possible. He knew he would do whatever he could in order to get the money he needed for that surgery.

Bobby was really in need of money because of the surgery that his wife needed. She was the most important person to him so he couldn’t let her die of the disease she had. That was basically the only person he really had. They promised each other when they got old they would do nothing but care for one another and not let anything bad happen to either one of them. This was the test to see if Bobby would do anything for Michelle in this situation that she was going through. Since he didn’t have a job nor relatives to help him, he decided to put his life at risk and start robbing. He knew it wasn’t a good decision but it was something he had to do for his wife. He wasn’t going to waste any time at all to start getting that money. He got to it right away.

The next day came and that was the day he was going to commit the robbery. He decided to rob a liquor store called Forties and 9's that wasn’t so close to the trailer parks he lived in. He took his old pick up truck he had owned for a while now. He got to the liquor store and parked his car in the alley behind the store. He sat inside his truck for a while before he actually went in the store and do what he planed to do that day. He was really nervous; he just sat there looking at his sweaty palms while shaking his right leg nonstop. He pulled himself together.

"Come on man, this is for Michelle," he said to himself.

He went into the store with a 9mm hand gun. He walked in as if he was a normal buying customer. He waited for the two customers that where in there to leave then he walked up to the cashier lady took out the 9mm on the lady and pleaded for the money in the cashier.

"Hurry up give me the freaking money lady," he yelled

The lady was so scared, she had difficulties opening it. She just stood there panicking trying to open the cashier. In the end she got it opened and gave him all the money.

"Here's the money, leave already" she said with a shaken voice.

He snatched the money from her hands and ran out the back door which led him to the alley where he parked his truck without saying one word. He jumped in and took off leaving nothing behind.

He robbed four liquor stores that week. In one of those robberies he made the biggest mistake of his life. He killed one of the cashiers. He had the 9mm that day. When Bobby took out his gun asking for the money the cashier reacted back, and took out his hand gun. The guy shot at Bobby but missed. Bobby panicked and shot him, and the cashier laid there dead. Bobby ran out so quick that he didn’t even notice he dropped his gun. When Bobby was running out, a customer was coming in and she saw the blood and quickly called the police. The police came and had the gun as evidence and got the finger prints off of it. The police had so many clues to lead them to Bobby. The police looked at the surveillance cameras and saw him there. The police tracked him down and arrested him and was sentenced to life in jail.

When Bobby got there he could only make one call. He decided to call his daughter Angela first and for her to let Michelle know. When his wife found out about what happened she died of a heart attack that same night. Angela wrote to Bobby letting him know what happened to Michelle. He was so hurt. Days after the death of Michelle, Bobby couldn’t handle knowing the love of his life Michelle was dead. He committed suicide outside of his jail cell. In lunch he went up to his jail cell, got a couple of shirts and tied them together, tied one end to the tier and the other around his neck. He jumped over the tier, and there he hung...DEAD!

Semester Academic Goals (Humanities)

Goal 1:To Participate

My goal this semester is to participate more in class like in "the word of the day" I plan on reading the example I do for the word, and participate to read "the word of the day", because I see that participation is a big part or your grade.

Goal 2: Pay attention

When I'm class i get distracted and I start talking to people and i stop paying attention. When they say what the homework is I never listen so in the end of the class I get out not knowing what we have to do and I have to be asking everyone.

Goal 3: Using habits of mind

I plan on all my work using the habits of mind because every single one up there helps your work look better so I play on turning in my best work.

Semester Academic Goals (Mysics)

Goal 1: My goal this semester is asking for help.

My goal this semester is When I don't get something to ask people around me, and if they don't get it then I will ask the teacher. Because last semester it was difficult for me because I would never ask for help, if I didn't get it I would just not do it.

Goal 2:Doing my Home Work

When we get homework they usually give us time to do it in class but I just don't do it, I wait until I get home but either way i get distracted at home so in the end I end up not doing it and i have to do it the next day in the trolley so now if they give us time to do it I will use my time wisely.

Goal 3:Checking my work

I usually just turn in my work without checking my answers and that's why I get my answers wrong so I'm going to start check my answers before I turn anything in.

Time Travelers Pillar

Project Description:
We had to paint a drawing on the 9Th grade common pillars with what your civilization had to do with. I had to do mine about Anasazi Art and Architecture. I drew the dwellings they lived in with a pot that they made on top.

Process:
I had to go on google and look up their dwellings. I looked up the easiest one to draw because I'm not an artist. First I traced it with a pencil just in case I messed up, then after I started to paint over it, then came my beautiful master piece.

Reflection:
What did you learn?
-I learned that a picture really does represent what I was learning in class about Anasazi Art and Architecture.

What challenges did you encounter?
-I didn't really encounter any challenges because painting my drawing was fun. :)

What would you do the same or different?
-I wouldn't do anything different because I'm happy with how the drawing came out.

How will this help you later?
-This will help me in my drawing skills, and my artistic eye. ;) ha ha

Time Travelers Essay

Project Description:
This project was about us being put in a group of 3 or 4 people and getting stuck with a civilization. Then we have to figure out stuff about that civilization and figuring out what we could make to send back so the thing we make can help that certain civilization. It was either a boat, trebuchet, or a water transportation system.

Process:
I had to look up as much things about Anasazi art and architecture. After that I had to put what I learned about it into 7 Paragraphs. I had to set up those paragraphs in t.e.a format.

Reflection:
What did you learn?
-I learned what the Anasazi slept in and how they would get their water. It was very interesting how they would build their own homes with dirt. I also got to learn about other peoples civilization because during the exhibition we got to walk around and ask things about their civilization.

What challenges did you encounter?
-The challenges that I had was just writing the essay. To me that was the hardest because I'm not good with writing.

What would you do the same or different?
-I would not copy and paste things into my essay from the Internet or my resources. Next time I would just turn it into my own words.

How will this help you later?
This helped me learn how to write professional letters so when I have a job and I want to write a letter to my boss I will know how to.
