Edgar Garcia is my brother, he also happens to be my hero. He is currently 19 years old and is struggling to move forward with his life. Being a high school drop out affected him really bad. He was 17 years old when he decided to stop attending school. He stopped going to school because he had gotten in a fight with a guy, and got kicked out of that school, and he just didn't want to try to look for another school to attend.
"Do you think the decision you made was a good one?" I asked.
He looked at me and sighed and said "NO! Because I messed up, I can’t do anything without a diploma,"
Looking at him since he dropped out, it has been difficult for him. He can’t get a good job; well he can but not one that gets paid good enough. I asked him how he felt about him being my hero.
"I feel special, but I don't see how I can be your hero if all I am is a drop out." He said. That answer brought me to the next thing that I'm going to write about.
I noticed while he was in school he never really pushed me to do good in school, now that he dropped out and realized that what he did was a bad decision he now is harder on me with school.
“Why would you start acting like that now?” I asked
"Because I didn't go to school, and I don't want you to mess up in school and do the things I did," he replied.
To me that's why he’s my hero. He shows me that he actually does care about the decisions I make. That makes me feel really good, because knowing that my dad isn’t here for me, I know he is. When I hear it from my mom it doesn't really grab my attention, and I don't even want to listen to it because she’s my mom, of course she wants what’s best for me, but when I hear it from my brother it does make a difference because most brothers don't really care what you do, they just want to do their own thing. I kind of see him like my second dad; I don't really have a good relationship with my dad so it’s nice to have a good one with my older brother and to see he does care.
Looking at him now, I see he is trying to make the right decision. He’s been trying to go back to school. He got a job, not a good one but he got one. He’s currently working at Little Cesar's. I asked him how he plans to do his future.
"To finish school, get my diploma so I can get a good job and help my parents," he replied.
Seeing how he really messed up his life I wouldn't want to make the same mistake he did.
“I was still wondering how you would feel if I made that same mistake you did,” I asked
"Bad, because I want you to do better in life cause I know you can, and I don't want you to end up like me," he looked at me intently.
He got up slowly before saying what he told me. When he did that, I knew he was serious. Hopefully his life mistake gets better.

Hero Project Reflection

  1. A hero becomes a hero when they do something that you really appreciate, or when they show their love for you.

  2. Project Description- What was the Hero in My Eyes project? - The hero in my eyes project was that we needed to pick someone that was a hero to us, and we had to write an essay, one moment in time about why their a hero to us.

  3. Process- What steps did you take to get to the final product?

-We had to think of some question that we thought would be good to ask our hero.

-We sat the hero down and asked them the questions, we got answers and made a story/ essay about them being our hero.

4. Reflection- What did you learn? What challenges did you encounter? What would you do the same or different? How will this help you later?

- I learned a hero isn't just spider man, super man, etc.., it can be anyone you see as a hero.

-The challenge that i encountered was writing the essay because I'm not so good at writing stories.

-The things I would of done differently would have been being more descriptive on how my brother looked, and doing the challenge assignment with the 5 vocab words.

-This can help me in the future because I can get prepared for college when we really have to write something hard.

5. I picked wonder because I would always ask my self what if I did this better, what if?

The Origin Of Zero

When I read the articles I was really interested in reading more. To me the number zero wasnt really important. I thought it was just any other number. But yet the exact number zero has not yet been pointed. Supposably this guy named Fabonacci brought the number zero from North Africa. They still dont really know who brought zero, its still a mystery.

In my opinion I dont think only one person thought of zero. I think alot of people knew about it but they just didnt know other people knew about it.The articles really explained alot, it had alot of detail.

I really liked reading the articles because I learned alot of stuff that I didnt even know about zero.

He was a rockkk :|

Catching the signal from one of her friends, Angela brushed her skirt, took a deep breath and walked towards where he was sitting. Her face was as red as a tomato. You could so tell she was a nervous wreck. "How am I going to start a conversation with the cutest boy in class" she said to herself. I cant talk to him hes a rock, hes always serious. She walked slowly, looking around to see who was looking at her. It was as if the whole playground was looking at her. They looked at her as if I was a model on a runway. She kept on walking slowly rubbing her hands on my thighs.

As she got there, it was her friend Jocelyn, Ara and the cute boy that will stay anonymous. When she got there Jocelyn and Ara said hi, and all of a sudden Ara said, "oh well I have to go back to class, I have to read a book." Jocelyn looked around confused. "Umm I have to, um go drink some water, bye I'll let you guys talk." When she said that Angela looked at her quick, her eyes got bigger, giving her a sign for her not to leave. Jocelyn looked at her, giggled and left. She sat down next to him and smiled. He smiled back. Angela looked down, kicking the dirt back and forth on the ground. They stayed quiet for the longest, then the bell rang.

They both got up and that's when he asked her if he can walk her to her class. Angela nodded and smiled. When they started walking, he slowly grabbed her hand. They swung it back and forth the whole way back to class. They stood there in front of her class. "Okay i guess ill head to my class now" he said. "Alright" Angela said. He headed for a hug and came in for a kiss. After that kiss Angela had the biggest smile on her face that she couldn't wipe off.

AND SHE LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER

:)

THE END!
