"Do you think the decision you made was a good one?" I asked.
He looked at me and sighed and said "NO! Because I messed up, I can’t do anything without a diploma,"
Looking at him since he dropped out, it has been difficult for him. He can’t get a good job; well he can but not one that gets paid good enough. I asked him how he felt about him being my hero.
"I feel special, but I don't see how I can be your hero if all I am is a drop out." He said. That answer brought me to the next thing that I'm going to write about.
I noticed while he was in school he never really pushed me to do good in school, now that he dropped out and realized that what he did was a bad decision he now is harder on me with school.
“Why would you start acting like that now?” I asked
"Because I didn't go to school, and I don't want you to mess up in school and do the things I did," he replied.
To me that's why he’s my hero. He shows me that he actually does care about the decisions I make. That makes me feel really good, because knowing that my dad isn’t here for me, I know he is. When I hear it from my mom it doesn't really grab my attention, and I don't even want to listen to it because she’s my mom, of course she wants what’s best for me, but when I hear it from my brother it does make a difference because most brothers don't really care what you do, they just want to do their own thing. I kind of see him like my second dad; I don't really have a good relationship with my dad so it’s nice to have a good one with my older brother and to see he does care.
Looking at him now, I see he is trying to make the right decision. He’s been trying to go back to school. He got a job, not a good one but he got one. He’s currently working at Little Cesar's. I asked him how he plans to do his future.
"To finish school, get my diploma so I can get a good job and help my parents," he replied.
Seeing how he really messed up his life I wouldn't want to make the same mistake he did.
“I was still wondering how you would feel if I made that same mistake you did,” I asked
"Bad, because I want you to do better in life cause I know you can, and I don't want you to end up like me," he looked at me intently.
He got up slowly before saying what he told me. When he did that, I knew he was serious. Hopefully his life mistake gets better.
